From late December through early February, Bryan Yeaton toured the country, bringing educational programs about weather and personal safety in adverse conditions to the public. The Weather Notebook National Tour, presented by Subaru and Davis Instruments, began on December 27 when Bryan departed in The Weather Notebook's Subaru "WeatherMobile" equipped with the Davis Wireless Vantage Pro weather station.

Bryan reports on his trek through all kinds of weather en route to the American Meteorological Society's (AMS) Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA, and stops along the way and back to do programs for schools and others, and participate in receptions and interviews.

Right now, I am sitting in the office of radio station KALX, at U. Cal Berkeley, as my friend Martina finishes teaching a media class, and we head off across the Bay, to San Francisco. I did four programs today here in Berkeley at the Longfellow Middle School. Although my throat is pretty raw after four hours of talking, I really enjoyed the students. Longfellow is a Magnet school, and attracts some pretty sharp young minds. Those minds come from tremendously diverse backgrounds—inquisitive, bubbly, quick to laugh. Thanks to all! And the school lunch was pretty good, too.

I won’t say how warm it was here today, because the folks back in the Weather Notebook office will withhold my allowance if I rub that in while they freeze the very hair in their nostrils back in NH. And speaking of my dear old Granite State—it is all over the news, with the Presidential Primary next week, and the awe-inspiring cold of last week (I was watching Good Morning America, and they had a reporter in Pinkham Notch, as the base of Mount Washington, and had some footage of the summit observers hacking away at the rime ice. I am actually kind of jealous I wasn’t there to experience minus 45 degrees.
