The End
Fri Dec 30, 2005
Listen in RealAudio
Bob Dylan sang, “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.” Hi, I’m Bryan Yeaton. Today is a sad day for The Weather Notebook, as this is our last program. The winds of change that have blown cold over funding for many non-profits have caught up with us. Although we have tried for the better part of a year attempting to replace our National Science Foundation grant, we have been not been able to find a partner to join Subaru of America and continue our show.
So, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for our twelve-year run. First: our longtime sponsors—Subaru and the National Science Foundation, and also to Davis Instruments for bringing our cross-county tours out to you. Thanks to our radio stations and networks: we have been one of the more popular short radio programs in the nation, on more than 360 stations around the 50 states, as well as many countries on Armed Forces Radio. It was wonderful to hear from our forces, from, say Ba’harain, or the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
But mostly, thanks to you, our listeners. You’ve asked us your weather questions, shared your stories, and responded to our Brainstorms. I have had such a blast traveling around the country and meeting many of you. From all of us here at the Mount Washington Observatory, our fantastic correspondents, our staff and especially from me, thank you for tuning in.
We will continue to try and secure funding, and resurrect The Weather Notebook in the future. It has been a great pleasure bringing you this program, and we hope it has made your world a little clearer, or a little more interesting.
Thank you all; be well, and, may you always have fair winds and following seas. Good Bye.
