It's Brainstorm time again here on The Weather Notebook. Hi, I'm meteorologist Dave Thurlow. A Brainstorm is a question about some aspect of weather. By sending us any type of answer, right or wrong, we'll send you a Weather Notebook poster. And if we choose your answer, not only will you be heard on the show that answers the brainstorm, but you'll also be sent our famous Weather Notebook magic mug. Today's Brainstorm is more of an opinion poll than a hard and fast question. We're just trying to keep our collective Weather Notebook fingers on the pulse of our loyal and highly informed and creative listeners. So, what do you think about the liability of weather forecasters? On the extremely rare occasion that they might happen to miss a forecast, should they be held accountable if somebody is inconvenienced, injured or even killed as a result of unforcasted weather? There have been a couple of cases where forecasting agencies such as the Weather Channel, Accuweather, even the National Weather Service have been confronted or threatened legally for blowing forecasts. So, what do you think? Are forecasters responsible for surprise storms? Should they be sued for damages? If you want to voice your opinion, our toll free number is 1-888-724-6001. That's 1-888-RAIN-001. Or send an email to brainstorms@mountwashington.org. Or send a letter to P.O. Box 2310, North Conway, NH 03860. But, the best way again is 1-888-RAIN-001.
