A Tricky Trio
Wed Apr 02, 2003
Listen in RealAudio
Hi, I'm Bryan Yeaton, and this is The Weather Notebook. Throughout the ages, there have been
many notable triumvirates: Adams, Franklin, and Jefferson; Tinkers to Evers to Chance;
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer; Moe, Larry, and Curly; for example.
Well, our Brainstormer has finally come back from his few months' sabbatical, and has posed a
question about another trio. Their names are: Mamertius, Pancratius, and Servatus. No, they
are not a law firm, or a double play combination, but they do have something to do with
weather.
So, that's your job: to find out who these three are -- or were -- and tell us about their
connection with atmospheric science.
If you think you know, or can find out the answer, we'd like to hear from you. You can call us
toll-free at 888-RAIN-001; which translates to 888-724-6001. You can also write to us at
questions@weathernotebook.org. We will air the solution in a month or so. If we use you answer
on the air, you will get a magical Weather Notebook mug, suitable for hot chocolate on these
rainy April days, or for when the May flowers finally begin to bloom.
If you need more time to ponder the question, you can review it, as well as past Weather
Notebook stories, at www.weathernotebook.org. Again, our phone number is 888-RAIN-001. Or
write to us at questions@weathernotebook.org. Good luck, and we look forward to hearing from
you.
Our program is produced by the Mount Washington Observatory. We receive funding from Subaru of
America and The National Science Foundation. Special thanks today goes to Assistant Producer
Doug Sanborn.
